William M. Tilford, FLMI, CLU, FALU is currently an active member of the Committee On Life Insurance Mortality & Underwriting Surveys, a Society of Actuaries committee that includes members from the underwriting community.

Those of you who work with international markets should familiarize yourselves with the International Experience Study. This is a long-term actuarial project which can ultimately benefit underwriters if it succeeds in developing credible datasets of experience in the countries that it is studying. We have been advised that an update of the study's progress is forthcoming in the not too distant future. In the meantime, the Society of Actuaries website can help you get up to speed. This project deserves whatever moral support international underwriters can give. Over time, we'll ways that underwriters can help promote this initiative. Step one is learn more about the study.
